Ambassador Team Awards
2009 Guidelines and Application
Deadline: July 17, 2009
Here’s your opportunity to recruit more girls for your team’s roster, gain the support of your school and community, build leadership skills, and simply, make a difference in another girl’s life.
Your team can receive one of twenty $2,500 team grants for uniforms, travel, equipment and more!
What are the GoGirlGo! Ambassador Team Awards?
This year, the Women's Sports Foundation and Gatorade will give away a total of $50,000 to teams that demonstrate leadership in their communities by inspiring girls to get involved in sports and physical activity.
Twenty girls' teams will be awarded:
- A $2,500 team grant
- A Gatorade Hydration Package
All teams will receive an official certificate of completion.
Who is eligible?
High school, amateur, community and/or nonprofit affiliated teams whose members are all of the following:
- Female
- Enrolled in 9th -12th grade
- Residents of the United States, its territories or protectorates
Proof of nonprofit status and/or 501(c)(3) status is required (if applicable).
What kinds of projects can my team enter?
For project ideas, get to know some of the winning 2008 Award recipients. Host a sports "skills" clinic, lead an after-school fitness group, or create your own idea. This is a team project, so get everyone involved!
How do you get started?
Step 1: Sign up as GoGirlGo! Ambassadors!
- Select a captain for your team project. She must sign up as an Ambassador for the team.
Step 2: Plan, Organize and Get Girls Moving!
- Create your own team project that will get girls at your school or in your community to be physically active.
- Your project must be completed by July 17, 2009. It must be original, current work and not previously submitted to this grant program.
Step 3: Enter your team's project for a chance to earn $2,500!
Here’s how to enter…
- COMPLETE the Online Entry Form OR download the print-version and mail in.
- A member of your team will be asked to answer three (3) questions about your project. SUBMIT your responses in a total of 750 words or less.
Here are the questions we will ask:
- How did your team plan, organize and carry-out the project? (Please be specific)
- What did your team and the girls in your community take away from participating in your project?
- Why did your team choose to do this project and what makes it unique?
How will you be judged?
Judges will make their decision based on your responses to the questions. Your team's project will be judged on: Impact (50%) and Quality and Creativity (50%).
Things to keep in mind
- The contest deadline is July 17, 2009. Your online application must be submitted by midnight Eastern Standard Time on July 17, 2009.
- NO late entries will be accepted. If you choose to mail your entry, it must be IN our office by 5 p.m. EST on July 17, 2009.
- Projects must be completed by July 17, 2009. Projects must be original, current work and not previously submitted
- The Foundation cannot accept entries that are faxed.
- Responses to the questions must be written by a team member.
- Submit a COMPLETE application. If something is missing, your application will be DISQUALIFIED.
- Photos/VHS/DVD/CD-ROMs are not mandatory and will not be judged and may be used for promotional purposes.
