Fluid, Fuel and Food for Thought
Keep your mind and body going strong.

FLUID
It's halftime. You come running off the field with your tongue dragging along the ground, dog tired with a mouth drier than the Sahara. What do you lunge for? Water? Ummmm. Well, you could. How about a sports drink? Bingo! When you're pushing your body to the max, sometimes water just isn't enough to keep it revved up. Carefully concocted sports drinks, on the other hand, can give you that powerful boost you need. Not only are they tasty, so you'll dig rehydration - but they contain totally important nutrients, such as electrolytes, carbohydrates and sodium, which are lost during hard core workouts.

FUEL
Athletes take care of their bodies, so their bodies will take care of them. How you fuel that body of yours will make all the difference in the world when it comes to performance, body image and well-being. Tearing up a greasy cheeseburger and fries on your way to a swim meet will stunt you in the same way that living off of lettuce and grapefruit juice will. What you put in your body will dictate what you get out of it. If you want to get the most out of your main frame, consider nutrition part of your training. Eat loads of fruits and veggies, protein in moderation and several servings of complex carbohydrates like whole-grain foods, potatoes, and pasta every day. Ease up on the fatty foods like butter, chocolate, cheese and flubbery red meat and just watch your body become more
efficient. Eating right will give you more energy, less blubber, stronger bones and give your muscles the juice they need to help you kick butt.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Your mind and spirit need fuel in the same way that your bones and muscles do. Maybe you get your inspiration from a quote in your locker, watching a teammate's gutsy hustle or daydreaming about making it big time one day. Regardless of where you find it, images of inspiration are soul food for any athlete. It's what drives you, pushes you and makes you pump out that last set when you don't think you have it in you.

Here at GoGirlGo.com, you'll find not only athletic inspiration, but information about improving the mental edge of your game. After all, great athletes are in top physical AND mental shape.
